An talamh faoi gheasa – The Enchanted Land
Dir. Pradeep Mahadeshwar, 10 mins, Ireland,
Experimental, 2024An Talamh Faoi Gheasa (The Enchanted Land) is a lyrical, visually immersive experimental film that embodies the heart of Queer Spectrum Film Festival 2025’s theme: migration, nostalgia, and transformation. Directed by Pradeep Mahadeshwar, the film reimagines an ancient Indian myth through the lens of Irish language and landscape, crafting a cross-cultural narrative where myth becomes a mirror for modern queer experience. In this enchanted space, identity is fluid, time is nonlinear, and transformation is both spiritual and bodily.
Blending elements of folklore, gender fluidity, and diasporic longing, The Enchanted Land offers a meditation on the search for belonging in a world divided by borders — of nation, language, and self. It speaks to the in-between spaces queer immigrants inhabit, where memory and mythology become tools for survival and self-making. This film is not just a crossing of cultures, but a reclamation of magic and myth as a space where queer lives can be seen, held, and transformed. -

Nine unique people from different countries are joined by one commonality: they are seeking international protection in Ireland because their identity as LGBTQ+ made living in their home countries unsafe. In this film, they gather at their local LGBTQ+ Community Centre in Dublin to discuss why they were forced to leave their home countries, what life has been like since arriving in a country where it is safe to be who they are, and what their hopes and dreams are for the future. -
